set of 4

I had a really fun time photographing these Terns as they flew back and forth from lagoon to ocean. I got a little carried away, so I am posting 2 sets of these photographs. Did you know this is the largest of the Tern family? The clouds were in the process of burning off, so some photos show blue skies and others gray.

I’m terrible at IDing gulls. I thought this may be a Ring-billed Gull, but now that I look closer I’m not so sure.

Fall of 2013 was an extraordinary time in the Monterrey Bay Area. There were an unusually high number of anchovies in the bay that attracted both birds and whales. I had a lot of fun with these Elegant Terns.
