I came upon your blog while looking for information about birdlife at Corcoran Lagoon. Are you aware of the current drive by dog owners to have S.C. County grant off leash hours on Live Oak beaches- in particular 20th Ave.-26th Ave.? I am working to oppose their efforts. If you would like to learn more about the issue, send me an email.

I live on a man made lake, nothing overly large or anything. But we have a wonderful flock of geese that are there every year. I love every year in the spring to see the little goslings. My wife went out and bought a pair of great zeiss binoculars so we could observe them a little closer. Great hobby I’d say, and the best part is we don’t even have to leave our back patio.

I met with a biology professor at the College of Charleston and they have many preserved birds and I was able to get the measurements I needed.

Could somebody tell me how long a snowy egrets legs are and the dimensions of the feet and bill. I am a sculptor and wonder if there is a website that gives the specifications of birds and other animals.

I’d say you’re right on with this one for the reasons you listed (the yellow legs are a VERY good field mark for a Least peep). I’d bet my dinner on it, in fact. See…you’re better than you think you are.
