Blue Jay’s often eat up all my seed and drive away the smaller birds in doing so, but they are so beautiful and I can never resist taking a photo of one (as long as they hold still longer than my shutter speed)!

Since this is the Bird Nerd’s blog and since the Bird Nerd lives on the west coast, the vast majority of Dark-eyed Junco’s you will see here are of the, “Oregon,” population. This bird is of the, “Slate-colored,” population and are most commonly seen in the eastern part of the continent. Seeing this individual has made me hope to see some more species of migrating sparrows in the coming days.
