I think male Gadwall’s are quite handsome ducks and are one of my favorites. I love the details on the flanks combined with the light brown scapulars and black bill and tail. This guy was quite cooperative as Gadwall’s go and these two photos were the best I could come up with.

Soft and a little washed out, but I liked the composition and reflection

I find Bufflehead’s notoriously difficult to photograph. I was blessed with some awesome light and a fairly tame bird and this was my best photo. A little soft but I’ll take it!

American and Eurasian Wigeons tend to hybridize, but this handsome bird seems to be a pure Eurasian. I will often see one or two with any large flock of American Wigeons here in the Pacific Northwest.

They are such commonly seen birds, but Canada Geese are truly beautiful, nonetheless. The bird on the top struck a very graceful pose and I couldn’t resist. The bottom shot I purposefully took to be a head profile. I thought it turned out pretty well.
